Gilo development controversy

Gilo, a neighborhood of the Jerusalem municipality with 33,000 residents is the proposed site for the construction of an additional 900 new housing units.

Prime Minister Netanyahu’s response to U.S. Envoy George Mitchell’s for a building freeze in Gilo was “No!” Netanyaho explained that Gilo is a neighborhood within the boudaries of the municipality of Jerusalem and as such does not require government approval for construction.

I was interviewed about the issue by the English version of IBA (Israel Broadcasting Authority) the morning of Nov. 18th.
